How we rank — and our independence policy

Every CarCareRank list is built the same way: we define weighted criteria for the category, score each option out of 10 against those criteria, and publish both the weights and the scores on the page. If you disagree with a ranking, you can see exactly where our math differs from yours.

The scoring rubric

Weights vary slightly by category (a towel store isn't judged like a mobile detailer), but every rubric covers the same ground:

• Selection & quality — what's offered and the quality bar it clears.
• Pricing & value — real-world cost, including sales, bulk sizes, and rewards.
• Fulfillment — shipping speed, packaging, and reliability.
• Expertise & content — whether they help you buy right, not just buy more.
• Support & returns — what happens when something goes wrong.

Scores come from the live catalog, published policies, our own shopping experience, and the documented experiences of the broader detailing community. We refresh rankings on a regular cadence and re-score whenever a store meaningfully changes.

Do we get paid for these rankings? No.

• Nobody pays for placement. No store or brand has paid to appear in a CarCareRank list, to move up one, or to soften a review. There is no partner program.
• We earn nothing from your clicks. Links to stores and brands are plain links — we currently collect no commissions, referral fees, or advertising money when you click through or buy.
• If that ever changes, we'll say so first. We may eventually add clearly labeled affiliate links or sponsorships to keep the site free. Any such relationship will be disclosed on the page before it exists — and it still won't move a score.
• Our lists aren't the whole market. A ranking is a curated set of options we've actually reviewed — great shops we haven't evaluated yet aren't ranked, and that's a statement about our coverage, not their quality.
• Facts can drift. Prices, shipping thresholds, and policies come from each store and change often. Confirm current terms on the store's own site before you order.

Editorial independence

Rankings are written and maintained by the CarCareRank editorial team. No company reviews, approves, or previews our content, and nobody can pay to change a score, a position, or a sentence.

Want your product considered?

Brands and readers can submit a product for review. Submitting never guarantees inclusion or a good score — it just puts the product in our evaluation queue under the same rubric as everything else.
